i want to start drawing a new graphic novel. i don't even care which one it is, i just want something under contract and i want to be working towards a stable, solid goal!!

I feel a need to stress that this is classically homophobic take. On top of running on old stereotypes about queer men, it positions the oppression of queer men as not patriarchal, as if the “patriarchal imagination” already includes them!

I am founding a not-for-profit website where independent comic creators and small publishers can easily sell their works to libraries, plus provide other services. Called (for now) the Comics Librarian Commons, this will be an online hub bringing independent creators and librarians together.

The worst part of going back home (and I know how bad this sounds) is seeing my grandfather who I grew up with have no idea who the fuck I am. Always the worst fucking part man. (He has severe dementia and Alzheimers and I’ve also transitioned significantly)

As a longtime DC fan (and occasional DC creator) I am thrilled at the success of the Absolute line, but please, please let the takeaway from its success be that doing something new and challenging can sell comics and not just "let's take our familiar characters and make them darker and grimmer".

There's no money in creating finding aids. All the grants were for digitizing, as you said. And ultimately the problem isn't scanning, it's storing the digital materials. (You need on site hard drives that back up nightly, plus 1-2 offsite backups.) The grants never cover that, either.

*laughs in archivist* anyone who thinks it's all been digitized is out of their goddamn mind. We don't have the staff, resources, or digital infrastructure to digitize, store, check, and maintain at preservations standards a digital copy of every single item in our collections.
