This is where I really, really worry about the impacts of this AFT partnership. AFT is partnering with generalist orgs who have a long history of selling their products as broadly generally reliable, when they're demonstrable not. AFT reproduces that thought process throughout these videos.

Wikipedia is in the unique position that not only does it rely on a massive volunteer workforce who will absolutely stop doing that work at the drop of a hat, it also relies on donations from the public. And "AI" is unpopular and despised by the majority of both groups.

I have a brother in HVAC and a brother in welding. Both jobs require two-year degrees from a CC with general education requirements, maintaining certifications, and continuing education for additional certifications. Even blue-collar jobs require a college education, because it's 2025, not 1955.

Tenured men getting jobs elsewhere is a marker that elite academics still have power. The adjunctification of higher ed was the big flashing red alert that things are growing dangerous in the US.

International students are a huge boon to American universities. This administration is killing innovation, intercultural dialogue, and the advancement of knowledge generally.

The U.S. is immediately going to see a drop in international students wanting to study there with all these arbitrary and unconstitutional political deportations. Which will further erode the funding models and quality of their institutions.

On a practical note, there are around 530,000 NCAA athletes and around 10 openly trans athletes. This bigotry is targeted hate against a tiny population of students, for profit. The NCAA wants your money, are afraid of the feds, and are willing to sacrifice students to keep their profits.
