I'm not usually interested in AI experiments but this one seems to be quite important for social scientists. AI is not "analyzing" your data, it's accessing its own and generating the text it thinks you want.

OK, this is an interesting experiment. Pretend-data analysis where the LLM assumes what the result of such an analysis should be, based on what its knowledge base (but not the data!) tell it.

And these tools are slowly being adopted in industries where mistakes like these can actually result in harm. The industries themselves are often not hyped about adoption, but the AI tool maker marketers and investors are _pushing hard_ with efficiency and “You’ll be left behind!” scaremongering.

A good cautionary tale for when someone claims that trusting data analysis done with an LLM is good because it’s “objective.” In this example, Copilot apparently decided to ignore the data it was given and just run with all the subconscious biases its (human-made) training data inevitably gave it.
