I really cannot imagine going to all the trouble of getting elected to the Senate only to get there and decide not to stand up for healthcare, or democracy, or people’s ability to afford their lives. If those things aren’t worth fighting for, then truly what is?

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

FWIW: I do think having the DFL endorsement process (lots of problems with it, I know) has helped factions all compete in the same space & get on the same page in previous races. Without one, it definitely did leave a bit of a vacuum. Game to do my part to get the Saint Paul DFL back up & running.
