Does anyone know why the UK's civil society is so very, very bad at noticing when things have a very weak veneer of being a good thing whilst being in actuality a VERY BAD thing. Gov does something categorically terrible. LGBT civil society cautiously welcomes it. Again and again and again.

Starmer was the most transphobic prime minister by a very wide margin. Add Gaza, self-ID, attacks on neurodivergent & disabled people and harming refugees & immigrants tells us he was the biggest bully too. Yet some centrist journalists can’t figure out why he became so unpopular.
