"[The Yankees} f***ed it up, didn't they?" - Buck Martinez, Blue Jays Legend and very correct man
Listen I try not to take sports rooting interest stuff too seriously but if I dont know you, this is not cool. Youre just an asshole.

Rivers looks old as shit out there, and its awesome. Its not so much that hes 44, its that hes been out of the game for 5 years, and it shows. He has to over-rotate his body so much to make these throws. But even if it looks janky, he knows how to use his body to get the job done. Bravo Phillip.

Phillip Rivers was quoted as saying itll be weird playing on NFL field again instead of playing in his backyard with his kids, since the NFL field will have fewer players on it

This is the first time my 11-year old Chiefs fan will ever see his team not go to the playoffs. In his lifetime. Spare a thought for my boy who watched his only two teams lose a title-clinching game, and then saw the end of a dynasty, all in this calendar year

Im not saying we lost thr 18 inning WS game cause our bullpen lost it (we got to 18 innings cause they were great) but man, wouldve been nice to have berrios soak up some innings in a marathon like that. Or game 7 for that matter. But he wasnt willing to pitch relief

The one on the left is so terrible, it's like hey what if "Lunch Atop A Skyscraper" wasn't a photo of the nameless immigrant workers that built the building but rather the rich guys that ordered them to be built without ever having to risk their personal safety?

Hot take - I don't think Baltimore will hate this deal in year five. Pete's been remarkably consistent and healthy throughout his career. I like his chances of resembling a 30/m a year guy in five years - especially since who knows what a 30/m a year guy looks like in five years.

one nice thing about working from home, and having a wife that isn't super into baseball, is that if you scroll down a little on someone's baseball reference page it looks like a boring ol' spreadsheet. Oh yes, honey, workin' hard over here, gotta crunch these numbers. For work.

Piers, you stupid fuck. This isn't 2003 or whatever. The Overton Window has shifted. Fuentes will not be done in by simply letting his bigotry disqualify himself from being taken seriously. You are making the nazi look good. You, and I cannot stress this enough, stupid fuck.

If I could ban any type of video from the internet forever I might not start with "single person reenacts an exchange between a patient retail worker and a rude/dumb customer while wearing a different hat" but it'd be high on the priority list

There's no one thing that explains the mess we're in but the most astute observation Trump ever made was that he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th ave and get away with it, because he knew the NYT would come up with something like "Has Trump Shooting That Person Changed How We View Murder?"

no shade by the way, since it's a perfectly natural thing to think about and I'm probably in the minority. it doesn't bother me to see it or whatever, but I have a super low level of engagement. Unless it's "shohei is on a plane head for toronto" I guess.

I have a very low tolerance for roster speculation. I don't mind a bit of "should we re-sign player x, is free agent y a good fit for team z" when speaking about concrete terms, but mock trades and mock drafts and FA speculation don't do it for me. Wake me up on opening day and show me the roster

This summer I told a parent they didn't need chat GPT to parent because "it'll give you some general advice that you could also find in a google search, but it doesn't know your kid, and you do" and they acted like it was the wisest thing they ever heard instead of depressingly obvious

Aghast to learn I've been saying "hone in" when it's actually "home in". And I understand why it makes more sense but it I feel like if I say it that way I sound wrong, so I guess I'll just literally never say either one ever again.

2023? bad year. I don't mean bad stuff happened, i mean it has no charm. Not long enough ago to be long ago, not recent enough to be recent. And like, what happened in 23? I don't even remember it. I'm not even sure it happened tbh

This is a great thread. I honestly feel as though every cohort of young adults from now on is going to rely on their parents for critical thinking the way my generation might have asked their parents whats wrong with their car, how to build a fence, or why their cake isnt coming out right.

companies are making their live chats for customer support as difficult to find as possible - forcing you to wade through numerous help articles first, or making the chat icon very tiny in a hard-to-see corner of the browser, hoping they don't have to talk to you. Fucking infuriating behaviour.

Today I learned that John A. MacDonald regretted not being able to afford a university education, as it prevented him from securing a career as a literary writer. Instead he had to settle for passing the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, where you could immediately intern/article without law school
