I think all of us born between like 1975 and 1985 need a support group for the fact that living through a rolling apocalypse, living with long covid, and starting menopause apparently all have the same symptoms.

What's so hard about just being like "I got diagnosed, but in retrospect I don't think it was helpful or accurate, so I didn't pursue anything further" and just leaving it there without trying to project your conclusions onto everyone else with a diagnosis

"High functioning" is actually high masking, which is high (energy and personal and stress) cost to the autistic person. The same person cannot be high functioning over all time and in all circumstances. And saying "high functioning autism shouldn't be a diagnosis" is ableist and reductive.

Absolutely 100% this. Neurodiversity is all about how your brain works, how to live the best life you can within your own capability, and if only we all could just support everyone else to understand and have empathy for self and other, we'd all be so much better for having done so.
