Protests continued today outside Take Two's offices in London, but also in Paris, where Le Syndicat des Travailleureuses du Jeu Vidéo (@stjv.fr) came out to show their international solidarity with the fired Rockstar workers.

I really do think this is true. Rockstar leadership deciding to fire 30+ union workers and the workers deciding to fight back is going to be something we look back on as a turning point for our unionization effort.

Unfortunately I suspect as union activity gains momentum and popular support in this broken industry we will continue to see studios ramp up their union busting efforts. Be smart: practice good infosec, read up on typical union-busting tactics, and most importantly: don’t let them scare you.

"why are games so expensive" "why are mass layoffs happening" "why are games getting cancelled" "why did that popular studio close" it's capitalism. capitalism is why all of this is happening. the rampant prioritizing of profit over the all else, from price and quality to dev health and well being.

I don’t talk about it much because the situation doesn’t really change but it’s still insane to me what an enormous amount of really talented game developers are out of work. just whole studios worth of incredible people, often people who worked on beloved games, unemployed.
