If Stephen King were to write Misery today, it could easily be about an obsessive and toxic fan who develops a really unhealthy, parasocial relationship with a creator who gets mad if their show does something the fan doesn't like or someone who takes their hatedom way too far.

Another aspect of modern tech that I don't like is how much of it requires you to be always online. It's bad enough that TVs require an internet connection now, but why the hell would I want a fridge or any other new appliance to be online?

Hot take, but I feel that millions of people being unafraid to protest is going to make a much bigger impact and will win more people over than being a doomerist killjoy and scolding random strangers on social media ever will.

Absolutely keep calling out the bad people who deserve it on social media. I think that's a good thing to do, but saying that the protests won't accomplish anything helps nobody.

Never blame or harass workers at big corporations, whether its a someone in a service job or a creative person at a studio, for the shitty things that the executives do. It's a red flag. It tells me that person wants to be performatively angry at powerless people for clout.

Social media unfortunately has made it profitable, whether in terms of money or clout, to hate everything new and popular. You get stuck with ragebait grifters and bad faith arguments that drown out any legitimate criticism or positivity and pop culture as a whole suffers.

It's gotten to the point where I genuinely wonder how authentic some people are in their opinions or if they're performatively jumping on a bandwagon because social media told them to. Especially on YouTube.

There's a reason why I simply ignore fandom discourse. I talk about things I like/that interest me with people I can trust, but fandom discourse as a whole is best to be avoided.

I'm increasingly convinced that most of modern tech is one big scam designed to line billionaires' bank accounts based on promises that they won't actually deliver as they keep forcing useless and harmful shit that we never asked for into everything.

I love physical media as much as the next person and I feel it needs to keep being a thing, but it too is imperfect. Especially when manufacturers make cheap cases and the little nubs don’t hold the discs secure, and they slide around and scratch inside the case.

Because people think that if you say anything positive about nintendo you're an apologist. There's a difference between nintendo and other companies and that's that people actually like (or at least used tot like) nintendo. Which makes people who hate nintendo even more obnoxious.
