Sometimes I feel like spiritual/emotional growth happens less like an expanding bubble and more like popcorn or a balloon animal. Things are shifting and expanding in strange, incongruous ways, but the transformation means I’m shifting into shapes that make room for new knowledge.

Just like the narratives around trans rights and racial justice, this framing constructs "activists" as unreasonable, radical and holding all the power. "Do you know how mean fat activists are if you lose weight?" Do you know how mean everyone else is if you don't?!

Conservative and reactionary centrist media is trying to set up a narrative in which GLP-1s are some kind of existential threat to body positivity and fat activism. It's bullshit. If you want to lose weight, go for it. But not everyone can or wants to — and they deserve equal treatment regardless.
