I always know it's spring in Atlanta GA whenever I see hundreds of these little ground-nesting bee "volcanoes" pop up in a public park next to my home. I also love how we know (thanks to trace fossils) that bees have nested like this since the Cretaceous Period (~100 mya). 🧪🪨🐝🕳️

I thought these were blueberry but after blooming, they're definitely not! Deerberry (im like 80% sure), which is also a #NativePlants #VaNativePlants this client first hired #GardenWild to clear out this area. Its swamped with English ivy and honeysuckle- but the "weeds" are all berries & Blooms!

Trying to find a happy middle ground with the bugle weed. If I left alone, it would readily take over and is prevalent in neigheverywhere- BUT it also is great early pollinator food atm while everything fills in. The #DitchGarden is a great example, though i need to pull a bit more, its "patchy"

FALSE rue anemone (Enemion biternatum) blooms at the same time as rue anemone and is found in a similar habitat. The foliage is a little different, and false rue anemone doesn't have more than 5 petal-like sepals whereas rue anemone may have more. #nativeplants

Was checking in on a recent plot slated for construction (Hella bittersweet) full of native azaleas, serviceberry & blueberries. LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

I love sedges and spring is my favorite time to "hunt" them lol saw this adorable little Woodruff though all by itself in an area I removed English Ivy from & Seeded with a #NativePlants mix a few years ago. Some areas have been scoured completely, but a few are doing great!😍 #GuerrillaGardening

They go dormant underground until the following winter when they do it all over again. Before departing back into their watery graves, the lucky ones will drop this weird looking ball that looks sort of like a rotting pineapple. It’s a fruit full of skunk cabbage seeds!
