As someone who has never had short-haired dogs until our current pair, it's odd to me to have dogs who don't like the cold. My previous dogs would zoom around in weather like this. These guys look at me like I'm insane when I try to get them to go outside.

Time to seed for next spring. These are redbuds and sweet Joe Pye weed from my yard to be spread in an island of trees in the middle of a small hayfield. Spent the summer clearing winter creeper and bush honeysuckle so there is plenty of ground under mature locusts and hackberries.

Early part of the sunset. Much prettier later, but I was walking the dogs and they made it quite clear they were not interested in lingering to admire the view.

One fun feature of doing restoration work in the woods is finding new ways to get hurt. Kneeling down to pull winter creeper vines and I got hit on the back of the head by a falling Osage orange. Those things really hurt!

Drought and unseasonable warmth have mostly screwed up our fall colors, but there are still a few good looking trees around.
