Another great Usagi moment as a ninja hides his presence by wiping a blade as it’s pulled from him. Beautiful formalist touch of ganging up above and below into vertical panels

I love the mad brushy style of Paul Pope and DWJ etc. but then I love the intricacies someone like Sakai gets. Like Bone, you can read it for ages land then *bam* a panel like this stops you cold.

Creature From The Black Lagoon by Adams and Moncuse. I’ve always loved the movie, and Art Adams is a perfect choice for 1950s retro.

The Hellboy and Grendel Graphitti Big Blast figures from 20 years ago are long gone. But the Madman one has gone the distance. One holster long gone too. I’m selling the guy but I’ve a fondness for the design. Graphitti are great.

Seasons by Remender and Azaceta with Lopes colours is really beautiful. I’ve followed Azaceta for a while noting the JPL influence but this book has pivoted into bright, mad art with Toth overtones in the looseness of it all.

Comic Movie Adaptations I have loved. Primary for the art but sometimes they’re also good in and of themselves. A thread. Darby O’Gill and the Little People adapted by Alex Toth. This film was a weird one lodged in my brain, the. It turned out Toth drew the comic version. 1/x

I would say this is an excellent use of the word ‘essential’. Dorkin’s comics are funny in a way that doesn’t exist anymore. The fact that in Eltingville the objects of comedy are fans reveals his knowledge of all the stuff they love.

One of my favourite 2000AD stories is Tribal Memories so I was thrilled to get a page by Riot. Similarly, over the moon to own a page of 100 Bullets by Eduardo Risso. And then two pages from my pal, the incredible @stipanmorian.bsky.social from the masterpiece 20th Century Men

My @seanphillips.bsky.social collection, with three pages from his classic run on Hellblazer and a painted page from the Dredd/Devlin Waugh crossover story.

A couple of colour pages now. First, a painted page from the folk-horror story Thistlebone, by Simon Davis. Wonderfully atmospheric. Then, some treasure, and a page from Button Man by the genius Arthur Ranson.

I’m a sucker for a good Dredd page. Cam Kennedy briefly had a website where you could get some of his stuff, so a page from him. And two pages from the mighty @henryflint.bsky.social - the current top Dredd artist in my opinion.
