today's achievement: remembered something from earlier in the day (so things are really looking up)

this winter reminds me, free million dollar idea: rechargeable hand warmers that are also a bluetooth mouse

i only noticed this week that the main computer had a shortcut to the wrong brush-brush for nearly two years, that must why be things were so uphill lately (that and inadvertently having the ishinomori/tezuka sleep schedule since october) (only with a marginally smaller output)

done with drawing. on to 100 hours of color (best medicine) (except medicine)

it won't get a trillion dollar valuation, but the technological progress we actually ask for is this sort of stuff

anyhow, on with tuesday

my "i'll do the important parts -- people, faces, etc -- first, when energy and focus is at its highest" plan always seems like the only reasonable way to do it until the very end, when i need to draw fifty chairs

Inside the crypt of a powerful karazadi noble. The ossuary niches here are built into a protective idol of a horned marmot, to deter the living and dead from interfering with the remains. Long bones are kept in the niche to the right, and fine bones gathered into a bronze reliquary on the left.

This was fun to paint. Part was done using a quill dipped in diluted acrylic, part was Posca marker, then some liquid acrylic ink

it's always easy to tell when i'm really running on fumes, because i find myself drawing everything

disaster strikes ahead of a very busy week, they completely messed up my all-beef coffee delivery (you know, the one from the podcast ads)

working on pages again has been very taxing, but it has also really put in sharp relief how everything else (except maybe animation) feels like driving while stuck in first gear in comparison. can't beat pictures in a row

there's never a good time to be drawing guns, but now is a particularly bad one. can't wait to not draw any for at least a full year

my mom, when telling me about a post she's seen where she's not sure if it's AI, will say "I'm not sure if it's real or stupid"

i somehow keep forgetting that working on a picture until i like the shapes is actually a major part of the job, and not just some wild indulgence (who knew)

recently i wrote on the blog about having some experience now, and being sort of surprised by it, but i forgot the other big thing: having the adult-grade familiarity with fatigue, where you think "well, it's not possible to get any more tired than this, so" and continue working

i didn't get any new walls but last year i got some frames that are easy to take apart so i could rotate what's in them every few months-- these should help the mood (here, indoors) for the next little while

I've been looking through older work lately, and thought I should share some of it here

making a coffee i had trouble lifting seems like an appropriate start to the day today

when you spend decades pummeling "clarity and readability at all times" (insert thousands of toth exclamation points) into your skull, you'll still think "i don't know, this doesn't immediately read" while drawing... a jungle scene with characters that are all wearing camouflage and ghillie suits

i guess i'm not using your website, i don't have time to even figure out what you're asking me to do

last night i only had the energy to repost, so here's a proper "hey, new picture" for this one, corpse knight #1 of 6, with some (hand) lettering that didn't make it into the final print version
