walk four / hooray for the library

good days for people, bad days for furniture and clouds

also 2/3 done with the new years card, so things are really looking up

hey, two walks in two days. time for more wild plans (three walks)

a minute outside, on foot / another situation where i take a picture and only notice at home that any of it, or everything, lines up (that stuff is truly baked in at this point) #fotozozo

the omnibus actually opens with a short story that i both wrote and drew, which was a very nice surprise

free million dollar idea for a kickstarter: a thin attachable lip for the cintiq, so it becomes a regular drawing board as well

had to get one of my "it'll definitely knock you out for three or four days but it might help in six months" shots today so plan for the next few days stays at just moving the pen

this morning i had to put together a quick PDF portfolio of sorts, and it turns out that i did draw several things over the years

This is for real. Nothing beats that feeling like discovering something rad as hell and not being able to see the edges of it at first contact. Needing to know more but having to work for it can make you a reader for life.

last bit of the prison comic is up on patreon. still meaning to make the whole thing available on a pay-what-you-like basis on itch dot io but it needs some correction/tidying up, still, & is more of a summer comic

the year continues to beat me up, but in the good news department, paper seems to be becoming more of a daily option again (next step: immediate unreasonable plans)

it's saturday, time to live it up

catching up with 2025-- this morning's panel was actually based on an old loose drawing (from the first inktober, ten years earllier), though i only worked from my memory of it

this one was around online already so it should be ok to post-- a variant for @christophcondon.bsky.social and @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social's The Peril of the Brutal Dark #3. i thought going back to how i did things a while back (around 1936 or so) would be a good fit for this one

i don't know who decided it was an acceptable idea to put giant tv screens with 24/7 news on them in hospital waiting rooms, but the first three things on today were: lying about war; footage of a shooting, gunfire included (and other horrific moments); and another report with footage of mass graves

wednesday plan: pictures (on paper, if the day cooperates for more than fifteen minutes)

too many deleted days again, but at least managed to make a brief trip to the comics store for the first time since november or october

freehanding five hundred ellipses and mechanical parts reminded me how earlier this year i was having a mysteriously difficult time with some stuff and it took me three full days to realize it was... not fun to draw. apparently at this age i forget to consider that could even be an option

after seeing the original interview, my goal new in life was to be as cheerful and enthusiastic as this guy, so an extra hour of it is very welcome (hashtag release the four hour cut)

anyhow, back to pictures

i know cartoonists (and adhd folks) are bad with time as a general concept, but people went to the actual moon and back in the time it took me to write four emails (eleven more to go)

the entire artemis endeavour is much needed reminder of what cooperation can achieve, but seeing such a beautiful and moving human moment in space like this (crater Caroll) sure is an antidote to the garbage people and their garbage inhuman behavior we're all subjected to every day

there doesn't seem to be anything else going on in the world, so hey, the paperback omnibus comps arrived-- it might be my favorite edition so far because of how bendy it is and the weight being just perfect

wednesday plan: not pictures

I don't know if it's my most woke opinion but I think if a company wants to be publicly traded they must have a unionized workforce.

panels like this take longer than busy splash scenes, probably because they end up requiring the same amount of work as animation would, only with a single frame (or two) to do it

maybe i am unable to fit into any normal comics environment because i think things like "tough and short day today... but before calling it, maybe i can at least draw all the feet on the next two pages"
