i never had too much use for the mixing panel in CSP but today i noticed that it doesn't require holding the alt key to pick a color from it, so it might be useful for single-handed work

my french vocabulary has apparently expanded by another 15 or 16 words so this morning i went "wait, the artist often thought of as the epitome of elegance was called... 'René Oatmeal'?"

it's unsurprising since my usual day doesn't exacltly include francis bacon markmaking, but i do forget just how much easier and faster this is to work out my thoughts for things that include any amount of texture (much like using actual film if you want to take pictures of trees)

it's incomprehensible to me how a book that is entirely about textiles could not include a single diagram of things like this. we invented pictures before you could even describe it verbally. put a related photo in there at least

penn & teller once talked about magic mostly being "someone spending more time on something than anyone might reasonably expect", and it applies directly to comics (and other arts)

another thing i'd like to set up is using multiple wacom pens for different tools but that is far beyond the technological capabilities we have in 2026 (in the unlikely case that wacom's api does share that information with the system, i will attempt to make a krita plugin or a godot tool for that)

every six months this modifier keys window gets my hopes up - i could make every brush be an alternate version of itself while holding shift or alt? why am i not using that?? - before remembering it's for each 'tool', i.e. pen, brush, etc, not per preset #onecandream

there's a new empty shelf in an unexpected (temporary) spot and it's been giving the entire household peripheral vision jump scares all week, so this should help

sure, experience and mastery factor in to making it all more efficient and making it look easier, but for me one of the main functions of looking at the masters' drawings and paintings is to be reminded that anything i could possibly be doing shouldn't take more work than those

usually my main job is taking things out of a picture to turn it into lines, so whenever i have to switch back to painting for work, i'm shocked at both how much easier* it is to do most things and how much i actually know** * not really easier ** there's way more stuff that i don't know

early evening program: looking at some Roy DeCarava pictures (i should really include him on any list of my favorite painters and cinematographers)

muting/management of the endless "update available" popups on app startup should be included in the accessibility settings on every device, because setting out to do one thing, and then being derailed for 15 seconds to 15 minutes sure is a problem for anyone with executive function issues

starting the day with disassembling a clock seems a bit on the nose
