One of the Internet phenomena that fascinates me is the proximity to creatives that social media allow (and we enjoy) but the rapid growing entitlement from audiences due to that proximity. It’s also been fascinating to watch what games or comics get influenced by the proximity, or even promote it

I've said it before: I genuinely consider it a moral imperative that people my age and up bang the drum about what the Internet used to be so those younger know that there's nothing inherent about what it is now. The Internet doesn't have to be this; its culture can and has belonged to people.

As someone who went on the Internet for the first time in the early 90’s, I fucking loved the Internet. It has given so many things in life, and afforded me so many incredible experiences. And to see it, and technology in general where they are today is kinda soul crushing.

Fully agree. DeviantArt worked in a way that curated both individual gallery spaces (your profile) and collaborative galleries (groups) based on certain themes, which was amazing for building community. Now, art is only profitable aesthetics. Can’t believe capitalism took community out of art…
