This. TBC, the reason my family won't support anything HP-related is NOT because I have some grand moral view that it's only acceptable to support work created by good people. The ironic thing about AI "art" is that REAL art gives us the tools to philosophically investigate why AI is not a good thing, and ignoring real art lets people sink deeper and deeper into a dangerous anti-human rhetoric that dooms us all.

When a chatbot gets something wrong, it’s not because it made an error. It’s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

If this remains democratic policy going forward, I will never again vote for them. May anyone who believes this is the way forward suffer the way they believe I and my family should be left to suffer. The GOP is my enemy, but that absolutely does not make the DNC my friend.

I will say this plainly. If the Democrats abandon trans people, the moral response is to abandon the Democrats. I will not vote for any anti-trans candidate and neither should you.

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."
