Important context here: when Peter Thiel and David Sacks began their war on diversity as undergrads at Stanford, thirty years ago, the very first tactic they adopted was to normalize slurs that had already been stigmatized out of mainstream society. This return of these hateful terms was a key goal.

THIS. Certain stories get lots of coverage, run over and over again, others get 1 or 2 brushstrokes and are considered already "covered" (usually those are stories that center marginalized voices). It's a major way bias towards power and status quo narratives plays out in ALL mainstream newsrooms.

The most heart breaking part is this kind of "journalism" high up editor logic is NOT unique to Weiss. I wish you could've heard what I heard when my work was killed, silenced, suppressed and silenced (or at best, just criticized). It's eerily familiar. In some ways identical.
