I've probably rambled about this before, but one of the things that has helped me more was realizing autism is not about "not getting social norms" as much as "needing rules to be consistent and make sense". Which more reveals how much of our current societal scaffolding does not, in fact, do that.

After finding out I was Autistic and finding the answers to so many of the things I had experienced in my life, one of the hardest lessons to learn was that almost no one who isn't Autistic actually wants to hear about it. They already have their preconceptions, and that's enough for them.
