Who looks at these flags on roundabouts and lampposts and feels pride? Far right thugs and racists. And who looks at them with fear and loathing? Everyone else. National flags are being used as Nazi bunting by Reform and the far right. Letâs call this what it is.

Just spotted this book on the UNC website. I was talking to students today about memories of the civil rights movement - this looks like it's going to be an interesting take and a great addition to the scholarship. Look forward to reading it.

Again this should inspire wall-to-wall media coverage for months. The crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement is dead. Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such.

Reform is a protest party. A protest against decency, integrity, kindness, expertise, and progress. It's a party of pettiness and hate, and it is made up of petty and hateful people from the grassroots to the very top. What it doesn't have is competence. So good luck with the bins and potholes.

It's so disheartening watching this court carry out the explicit project of white supremacy so blatantly while gaslighting the public to say it's trying to stop discrimination. They're dismantling every major legacy of the civil rights movement. We need to reform this court.

Today's VRA decision is intellectually dishonest and wrong. The conservative court basically said: Black people can vote for their preferred candidates, as long as they prefer the right candidates -- which will be Republicans. An absolutely mockery of the law and a stain on the court.

The Voting Rights Act is essentially dead and itâs quite possible that we will, like when a similar SCOTUS gutted civil rights at the fall of Reconstruction, see a disappearance of much of the Black congressional representation, especially in the most heavily Black states, which are in the South.
