Yet he doesn’t even use his gun to control this “threatening” person. He gets face to face. Which shows that it’s more about status than it is about safety.

He did not say show me your hands. He instead took the time to sling his weapon and then took a step INTO the protester. He was clearly not threatened regardless of where his hands were or for not backing up enough.

Lessons to learn from this to minimize the Feds’ legal justification: Don’t put your hand in the back part of your pants like that. Keep them visible. When asked to step back, take some measurable step back. Consult with local legal advocates regarding contours of lawful protest. Be careful.
