* turning off Suggested Posts makes instagram significantly less shouty, but they won't let you do it for once and for all; you have to redo it once every 30 days * bsky with heavy use of muting/mute words, blocking, and Hide Posts, and never looking at the Discover feed, is bearable

Because I started using DuckDuckGo for search, I notice how much less shouty it is than the big G. Thinking about sites by shoutiness (for me) * github, google search, and facebook are so shouty that they are often usuable * slack can be pretty shouty, but isn't unusable. Yet. (cont)

TempleOS, the work of a man whose brilliant potential as an electrical engineer and programmer was overcome with mental illness and bipolar disorder, stands as testimony to how someone beset upon by visions of vindicitveness and supernatual danger could in some small way find a relationship with God

It amazes me how "normal" I can be when my mental health is in check. Like just being able to do boring yard work like a chump is refreshing.

I'm sorry, what? In writing my first monograph, I spent six weeks trying to track down a citation in TWO languages I didn't know. And good thing too, because the citation was wrong. That's scholarship. That's research. You know, the thing we're trained to do?!?

A guy we know pitched a story to a mag about former skateboarders going back to their old haunt in middle age. My BIL(52)went with him as part of the story. BIL is now back home with a broken ankle and the writer is home with a broken vertebrae. The only possible way the story could have gone.

Every time you make a "tranny" joke, every time you overlook the way we're treated, every time you get irritated when someone brings up pronouns, every time you hesitate and act weird about a trans person in a bathroom, you feed the culture that murdered Juniper Blessing.

speaking of "ai", all this talk of "ai" finding bugs is just a because they're essentially overkill fuzzers right? Like curl had SUPER good fuzzing and so "mythos" or whatever only found one LEGIT bug? Did I misread that?

it kinda warms my heart that every "I built an X" post on the golang subreddit (where X is either an AI tool or built with AI) gets downvoted almost instantly. Enough so that someone actually complained lol. I can't stop you from burning the planet to the ground yet but I don't have to encourage it

I don't normally subscribe to the "German has a word for it" thing because all languages can invent and borrow new words! That said, I can't stop thinking about "hobbyless" as an insult since I saw it a few days ago, so here you go It promotes a growth mindset!!
