1. I have fully read and reported on the SCOTUS anti-trans BPJ ruling today. The decision is very bad, though not as bad as the worst case scenarios. It will still likely lead to mass discrimination in both red and blue states against trans people. Subscribe to support our journalism.

All of these cases are basically litmus tests for any Dem nominee. Are immigrants Americans? Do trans Americans deserve human rights? Are corporations superhumans who get to spend endlessly on elections to put whoever they want into power? These are simple questions with simple answers.

If they don't make court reform a non negotiable platform plank, find someone else who will. That is all

Importantly, the court did not grant politicians what we know they wanted from the start: a broad precedent restricting the freedom of all transgender people in our schools, workplaces, and communities. We will never stop defending trans people's equality and freedom.

Cannot stress enough what is happening at SCOTUS right now, and all of the legislation and hyperbole and rigamarole that preceded it, is all in the service of ruining the lives of about twenty people, most of whom are children.

Just because SCOTUS affirms a type of discrimination does not mean that discrimination is required. This decision should not cause us to weaken our efforts for trans inclusion in general or trans inclusion in sports in particular. Cis allies, you very specifically, need to double down.

Trans women are women and gender is a social construction that is not binary, and these self-appointed guardians of people's bodies wearing their wizard robes cannot change that. You will outlive them.
