The Eagles deserve credit for their reputation of running like a baseball team in how power is divided. Now they need to run themselves like a soccer team in being as cold blooded and unsentimental as possible to a coaching staff that can only point to past accolades for its defense now.

Looked like the Chargers were playing a Palms type coverage (safety and corner each read the number 2 receiver— Goedert), but with some type of Smash alert. You can see Hart point back at the safety when he sees Goedert break inside shallow. But then he peels back later to get the tip.

Eagles should go for it on 4th down for anything except impossible down and distances when a field goal is the alternative

Not 100% sure of the play call on the sack, but it’s a lot like Wasp (typically a call in Base). A gap blitz by Baun. It was from Nickel personnel though with DeJean as the “SAM” in this structure.

It’s at least a little bit Jalen too, but that’s a red herring if that’s ever being used as a pass for the coaches

Sad news out of Philadelphia, where the Eagles’ famed positivity rabbit has committed seppuku after watching the Eagles offense for one half

I’m angrier at the coaching staff on that INT than I was on the previous one. They jumped an extremely predictable route that time. The previous one was Hurts throwing directly into double coverage.

Should’ve been another intentional grounding to go with that holding

Jalen was seeing the field better than ever to start the season and now he’s seeing it worse than ever. Would love to know what exactly happened in between.

Goedert catch looked like it might have been a variation of Leak but with a pulling guard instead of an Outside Zone play fake

The problem with the "in the area" ruling is that it leads to horrible, cynical football from QBs and grounding should have an intent component.

Nakobe Dean has to be perfect to justify not having Jihaad Campbell on the field right now, so if that’s what he’s going to do…

Don’t understand anyone who thought it was better when there wasn’t a college championship game, and rankings came down to a poll. Imagine scrapping the Super Bowl, along with the rest of the NFL playoffs, and letting Steven Ruiz types decide the NFL champion. That’s what the old system was like.

I went in imagining Bama was going to be the biggest losers about this, but I was wrong. Gee, imagine a conference advocating for its members instead of some other team. What a wild concept!

If only Notre Dame had been given the chance to play Miami this year and prove they were more deserving of a spot.

I’m zagging and taking a pro-status quo stance on the CFP. The committee got the decision correct last year, and there was no correct decision to be made this year.

The Discourse was going to complain no matter who got left out between Bama (“Bama only got left out because it had to play an extra game”), Notre Dame (“Notre Dame hasn’t lost since September”), and Miami (“Miami beat Notre Dame”). I don’t think it’s worth getting worked up.

Bears should go for 2 if they get this touchdown. I usually only favor that move if there’s not enough time for the other team to score. This situation is one of those.

While I would love to see Bama squirm the most, I would also be ok with Miami and Bama both making it over Notre Dame, along with outright making independent teams completely ineligible for the CFP. Scared to compete.

There’s more of a case for college football to have an expanded playoff than most professional sports leagues because there’s no way to have a balanced schedule- even within conferences. The nostalgia for reduced playoff fields (or no playoff fields at all) makes no sense to me.

Rooting for chaos. Hope those Bama losers get left out and whine ceaselessly. I don’t even have a case for it on the merits— not really sure who I’d pick if that was the only consideration. I just want to see it happen.

it’s also very important to note that the vast majority of that $9b “loss” is actually related to how usps has to fund its pension obligations, which is to say it’s purely an accounting choice, not an indication of an inefficient service
