“kevin long is a good coach” ok what proof do you have for that at this point? because it sure seems like the entire lineup forgets how to hit at the same time year after year

Here’s a take I suspect I’m outre on. I would be in favor of a European Super Bowl if it meant they would move up the kickoff time to 2:30-3:30 to accommodate local audiences. Give everybody the whole afternoon to drink, and still have a few hours at the end of the night to get our shit together

The president of Cornell hit two students with his car, lied about what happened, and got away with it. The story illustrates an under-reported crisis in higher education: administrators and the trustees they answer to are increasingly hostile to the idea of college itself. I wrote about it here:

One thing I disagree with a lot about college football is when people say “it was better when every game meant something”, regarding the 4 team playoff win or BCS system. Every game didn’t mean something. Most teams had no stakes as soon as they had 1 loss.

The people complaining about fewer Sunday games diluting the NFL are overstating their case in my opinion. All of this would be solvable if the NFL either lowered the price of Sunday Ticket or made more games viewable outside of their regional market by some other means.

There's a genre of joke that only becomes more hilarious to me with repetition: The Founding Fathers would find modern politics completely inscrutable, except for Benjamin Franklin, who would immediately understand everything perfectly and take up whatever positions would get him laid

On one hand, I’m thrilled to be picturing a form of politics where Donald Trump is no longer important. On the other, I don’t think what comes after him is going to be all that great either.

any realistic discussion has to start from the ground truth that america is a *very* low-tax society compared to similar nations we collect about 25% of GDP as tax revenue. germany? 38%. denmark? 45%. we are already a turbo low tax society!

I missed the addition of another Week 18 Saturday game until
@denizselman33.bsky.social
mentioned it. I'm not a fan of the way the NFL is handling streaming, but one advantage should be not needing a predetermined kickoff time. It's wild they're specifying it's at 1

About one in 100 home runs looks less like a homer off the bat than the one Bryson Stott just hit. I was certain he'd gotten under that and it was going to die 20 feet short of the track

All big 4 professional leagues have distortions in their rookie wage scales, but the NBA’s is the most extreme. The total absence of that in all of this “draft lottery reform” talk is nuts to me.

If you thought the big problem in your party was voters thinking (in this case, wrongly!) that its leaders endorsed and ran on unpopular ideological positions, why would you spend millions of $ highlighting fringe pols and their positions? RNC doesn’t run ads highlighting fringe Republicans!
