A very specific thing I'd like to read that may not exist: anyone seen a global/comparative analysis of different legal/technical ways countries try to keep government data siloed from other parts of the government? If it doesn't exist, I'll be forced to apply to fellowships to write it.

It would be a kinda funny outcome if they decided to make everything turn on domicile (which won't happen). Then the children of (most?) undocumented people would be citizens, but the children of legally but temporarily present people wouldn't be. Luckily the 14th amendment says 0 about domicile.

Reading the @evanbernick.bsky.social amicus brief and I love this quote from Lynch which has a really obvious implication: if birthright citizenship hadn't been the practice in antebellum America, we'd have tons of examples of people being denied citizenship rights despite being born here.
