My kid had to go to the pediatric ophthalmologist yesterday. A resident did the first exam then the ophthalmologist did one. The kid was talking about the appointment and couldn’t figure out what a resident was. We started explaining and then kid said “OH LIKE AN APPRENTICE”

We are hosting a kid birthday party at the kid’s museum today and it’s nice and low key because they have a scavenger hunt that Rhasan is leading so I’m hanging out in an empty room listening to the 1D and K-Pop Demon Hunters playlist while I read on my phone.

Played my 7 year old I Write Sins Not Tragedies this morning because it felt like she would love it and Rhasan said “i mean i guess she might” and as soon as the chorus started he was belting it out.

It turns out this washing machine incident was great because, emboldened by repairing a washing machine, Rhasan felt confident to install a door to my studio closet, replacing the death trap of a bookcase on wheels my mother had there.

There’s a lot of great reasons to not have children but an underrated one is that sometimes all of their pockets are filled with rocks and their clothes go into the washing machine and the rocks make the tub get stuck and you have to disassemble the whole machine to fix it.
