as a kid we would pour gasoline on styrofoam and light it because the neighbor boy randy said that was how you made napalm. kid was 11 and didn’t own a chemistry set but there was no internet so we just took his word for it. turns out he was right. fucken randy, what a pyro king.

Decided to check out Tannen’s, the oldest magic shop in NYC. It’s on W 34th St, but there’s no sign outside. Man at the door will tell you “sixth floor” and when the elevator doors open you’re presented with a sterile fluorescent and totally silent and unmarked hallway, and around a corner to boot.

I need every beginner artist out there who thinks their work isn’t good enough to know that in this AI-poisoned environment seeing your raw, human art gives me fucking life. Any imperfection born from a living soul infinitely trumps whatever “polished” slop they’re trying to force feed us.

I came out of my bedroom this morning to find Booker on the bathroom counter staring at me, and Quentin in the reflection. Though to be clear, Quentin has that look on his face a lot of the time.

Hey friends who grew up in or around Nashville in the 80s and 90s: just today someone finally uploaded a copy of the Emma’s, the Supoilative Florist commercial. I’ve been idly looking for this for YEARS.

Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) at the Boston No Kings rally today, wore the trans pride flag like a scarf draped over his shoulders and included in his speech. "Because here in Massachusetts, we stand for what is right. We stand with trans people because trans rights are human rights."

I just finished The October Film Haunt. It was great, thank you, and made more surreal by reading Sweeten Creek Road in print. Never expected to see the street I used to live on pop up. How did so much of Arden / Asheville end up in there?

I don't have the energy to track what's up with (what's left of) the FDA and what they're doing with the COVID vaccine. All I know is it's September which means it's time for me. Tried to set one up online at Walgreens, got cancelled. Got through at CVS, came home with my vaccine. 💉✅
