Foone won’t remember me but she helped me once nearly a decade ago when I was in a terrible spot and had few friends that were able. She’s good people and I’m heartbroken hearing this news. Please reskeet / chip in a few if you can.

I got caught in a storm on the way home last night and Teen and I had to pull over for a bit. We stopped at Braum’s and I discovered that they sell this bagged Neapolitan Bean Soup that I absolutely LOVE and haven’t been able to find in other stores in several years.

I just finished rereading Speaker for the Dead yesterday. It’s been a few years since I read it last and I’m trying to keep a little ahead of Teen’s reading so it’s fresh in my mind when he wants to talk about it.

Some people say, “living well is the best revenge.” But, it also happens to be a great way to not waste your time being concerned about getting revenge.

It‘s ridiculous how common this view is that you (as an educator / librarian) have to force kids back to their section of the library when they start aiming for more advanced books.

When I was in middle school my school library had a full collection of adult grade novels, including the full collection of Stephen King and a bunch of fantasy pulp novels. I devoured that stuff at that age and it meant way more to me than anything officially assigned in class or parent approved

Does anyone else have the version of ADHD where you seem like an airhead half (or more) of the time even though you're really not? It just like short circuits your brain and you end up seeming dumb because your brain fails to word how the words should word?

Ya know I usually only comment on “art” when I enjoy it / want to say something appreciative to the artist. Live by the adage: “if you can’t say something nice…” But this isn‘t art, it’s a cursed object that escaped the Warren’s special basement room.

If you think about it: the fact that Buzz Lightyear wakes up believing he’s on a space mission to save the planet and help everyone, only to learn that he’s a toy, and all his memories are a lie, kinda makes Toy Story a horror movie.

Teen finally graduated into the good section of the school library this year and picked Ender’s Game for his first book. It’s been like pulling teeth trying to get him to read for fun because the library would only let him pick from a small selection of mostly crap.

This evening has been a bit of a cat-ass-trophe. Literally. The fluffy one apparently had a bathroom problem. She decided the solution to this problem was to drag herself across the carpet leaving ummm… a trail. So the cat got a bath and the bathroom got cleaned and the floors got cleaned.

As a parent, a former schoolteacher, and now a grandparent it's amazing to me how so much of 'cracking the code' with getting along with kids of all ages is just to ... treat them like they're people?! Because they are.
