After morning observations, went for a hike in the Old Faithful area, up to the observation platform. Its pretty steep but that's what I was after.

Would you support a 25 mile no hunting buffer zone around the the GYE and a ban on hunting within the GYE, (Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem) ? What is the GYE ? Its the area animals who roam in and out of the park use, and not just the park itself.

Well its started early I saw these two standing out on the thermal features in Black Sands Basin. They reacted OK to being told to GTF back on the boardwalk. I'd guess they were stupid and not malicious, but seriously there's signs everywhere.

The Pronghorn are starting to calve.

A balmy 61 in Lamar valley today, 51 on the top of Mt Washburn. Perfect cloud cover with just a touch of sprinkles. Saw nothing 😇 except a few distant Bison. Going hiking. Speaking of which, rivers are high so don't even think about it, no amount of swimming is going to beat that current.

Updates from the field I took my first vertically challenging hike today. It wasn't much but I'm only about 6 weeks out from my last heart surgery so I'm not pushing it. There's a short trail up around behind the Dragon's Mouth that I thought would make a good start.
