Massachusetts was the 1st state to pass the closest thing to a universal healthcare system, but while the system was referred to as âRomneyCare,â the only reason it became law was because the Democratic legislature, which had veto-proof majorities in both the state house & senate passed it. 1ïžâŁ/2ïžâŁ

Strange that House Republicans weren't able to solve this problem in a two hour meeting after procrastinating for all of 2025 and generally failing to come up with a health care plan for the last 16+ years

When I post about RFK Jr. undermining vaccines, Iâm noticing more and more comments saying things like âI am glad my state is part of a coalition that is not listening to himâ. Thatâs great, but I ask you to bear in mind the following: 1. Pathogens donât care about lines on a map

This morning I was driving to work down a major road. State Patrol had it's light on, no siren and was sitting in a left turn, going the other way. I moved over right before I got to him to allow him to do what he needed. He did, nothing.

I love Oregon. Perhaps it's the relative newness of north Pacific landscapes. A north Pacific beach is far superior to me than any other type of beach.

Death as I aged became less a concept more a reality. Helping people in the process of dying never ceases to make clear the point that the world doesnt skip a beat, that of billions of people were here before, lost to time.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Every House Democrat has signed a discharge petition to extend ACA tax credits & they need 4 Republicans to force a vote, but youâre spending more time bitching about Hakeem Jeffries over a TX Rep your faves canât beat in a primary getting a pardon than caring about Democrats trying to help people.

Voters have agency. Idk why so many of you are fucking intent on refusing to acknowledge individual civic duty. I get that doing so lets you ignore your family & friends being part of the problem or your own enabling of it, but being ignorant doesnât change that. You have to vote in the first place.

I work for an agency most of the time in care but I do private from time to time. I love the consistency of agency but the ability to really concentrate on a client, revise care and pivot if needed is much superior in private care. Of course pay, too but to be able to give 100% is wonderful.

This is what frustrates me so much about these articles: Propagating the narrative that large numbers of kids are faking disabilities is just going to result in a world where disabled people are *even more* scrutinized when they ask for accommodations!

A lot of people wait for this past weekend to buy things they cannot afford otherwise. Given the economic outlook, never mind prices and tariffs, some of the spending is built in by this segment every year.

6. Prior to the highly publicized event, Mrs Park had a run-in with James Blake 12 years earlier. Bus drivers had a terrible reputation of having Black people pay their fare....and driving off. One day in 1943, Rosa went to board a bus. She paid her fare, only for the bus driver to yell at her

5. We often focus on the 1955 event of Mrs Parks refusing to vacant her seat, but she had another reason. Rosa Parks knew James F Blake. All the Black people in Montgomery knew Blake. He was a particularly nasty bus driver who regularly disrespected Black patrons

4. Bus drivers and train conductors were all but deputized police forces. Their word was law. They carried guns. Bus drivers had actually killed returning Black WWII veterans for simply wearing their uniforms in public. They could physically remove anyone they wanted for any reason

There's another dimension to this Rosa Parks story that you may not know. This is where the story most often gets mis-narrated. The bus driver is often left out as a faceless entity and passive part of the story, but he is important to this story. James F Blake adds some much needed context đ§”
