David has the right analysis about Aurora Avenue but if you ask a city planner they’ll light up about this stretch as a place for dense housing because it has a good bus line. When someone like me suggests making my Aurora even better they turn sour and tell me we can’t do that

Anyone want to jump in the car and drive to Oregon today to walk in a muddy field and look at pretty tulips and ponder the meaning of life? 2 adult tickets for 2:30 pm the Wooden Shoe joint in Woodburn, south of Portland. Paid 55, all offers will be happily heard.

The level of stupidity on the work chat this morning is killing me. I don’t expect everyone managing the program are going to be experts- that’s literally why they hired me as a “subject matter expert”- but I do expect they should listen to the ppl they’re paying for their expertise.

That sequence is exactly why the ref should have carded Aguirre for not respecting the distance on the free kick for Frei. If he gets a yellow there, he probably doesn’t come in and whack CR like that.

My family had to listen to my rant about Houston’s stadium tonight so you need to as well: it’s terrible. It gets really hot in Houston; bunches of seats don’t have shade from the sun. They’re also exposed to the rain, as we can see tonight. And it’s 100% enclosed around the corners, so there’s…

Even up to this day my 15 yr old son remembers my one rule. Asking for a book is an automatic yes. While at a store he found 2 that he wanted. Lucky for me they were only priced at $5 each. I love to read, & I’m thrilled that he wants to read on his own. Money spent on books is always well spent.

it’s not surprising exactly but it is still shocking just how fast we’ve moved from “woke was excessive” framing to open and explicit white male supremacy

All but three (!) of the 1,651 refugees admitted into the United States in the three most recent months we have data are white South Africans. For comparison, in 2024, the U.S. admitted 100,060 refugees. It's an explicit white supremacist project.

Seeing a lot of chatter that FIFA apparently changed the World Cup seating charts and made sections that were originally advertised as Category 3 into Category 2, and Cat 2 into Cat 1… so they could sell them for more money. Someone should have explained to them…

Did the USMNT get a win against two elite teams right before the World Cup? No. Did we at least learn some valuable lessons to take into the summer? Also no. But did we at least have fun while watching our favorite team play soccer? No.

It’s genuinely a challenge for legal journalists to cover the birthright citizenship case, because one side’s argument is “the Fourteenth’s Amendment intent and text and a century of uninterrupted Supreme Court precedent all support birthright citizenship,” and the other side’s argument is “nuh-UH”

Been seeing a lot of tweets about whether pleats are back. Are they "in" or "out?" Are they modern or old? Personally don't like this line of thinking, as it's driven by ready-to-wear trends, which forces you to update your wardrobe every decade. Let me give you another way to think about pleats. 🧵

Okay, rethinking this: maybe Minnesota’s plan will work: leaving James on the bench and playing 75 minutes of antifootball, then bringing him on for 15 minutes of actually trying to possess and attack.

The best part of the 3-CB setup is that it generally forces Nouhou to stay home. I love the guy’s defense but there’s a reason so many of our LM guys seem to not quite live up to their potential over time. Rothrock works in that slot mostly because his work rate covers Nouhou’s deficiencies.
