The Empire Strikes Back is a Christmas film. I can't really explain it, but it is, with its snowy planet, lessons of patience in a grey and rain-soaked bog (England in winter), its sense of imminence and becoming, and the most awkward family dinner with fascist dad that you're anxious to escape.

It's Christmas Eve so I'm going to share with you an anonymised version of one of my ghost case files. I don't share these very often for ethical reasons, but I think this one is safe to share. I'm a skeptical paranormal investigator and this is one of my oddest cases 🧵

In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.

Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

I've never been more convinced Australia has the worst mainstream journalists in the world. Simple, thick, racist, ahistorical, bootlicking dipshits that lie and screech more than they think and feel. This weaponisation of a tragedy against anti-genocide voices is grotesque.
