I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Bluesky, is in fact, For You/Bluesky, or as I've recently taken to calling it, For You plus Bluesky. Bluesky is not a social media site unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning recommendation algorith-

Snapcompact: SoTA Compaction — Instant, Local, Free. Pick 3
A 1568×1568 PNG fits about 40,000 characters of text in a 6×10 pixel font. That’s ~10,000 tokens worth of text, billed by Anthropic’s pixel formula …

It's interesting to be talking to claude chat, (opus 4.8), and seeing in the thinking traces: > I'm avoiding the banned words like "honestly" and "genuinely." When you have no special instructions for claude

This is Žižek’s thesis, roughly: that each ideology contains some term, some symbol or word that *determines* what other words mean; that meaning isn’t just an arbitrary web between words, but that the web of meaning is shaped *by that symbol*. That’s the thing I want to test. :3

I did a 40 km hike in Gatineau the farthest 4 km segment was abandoned unmarked trail that petered out into swamps. took a bad step there water gave out with 4 miles to go, was in a lot of pain with 2 miles left I feel the perfect level of wrecked. what I needed, 10/10

I haven't paid more than $0.99 for a dozen eggs for literally months because the grocery store in shop at keeps putting them on sale every single week at prices well below those at Aldi. My crackpot theory is that the owner is a Trumper and he's trying to mitigate Iran etc. with cheap eggs.

bluesky app feature where accounts with more followers than you get a little green "clout chasing opportunity" badge next to their names, and accounts with less followers get a red "no clout" badge next to them. accounts with similar followers get a golden "networking opportunities" badge

This isn’t even a joke thing for me. Mobile platforms are a closed down technofascist response to computers. The desktop isn’t free of those influences, but they are attenuated and interacting with it makes you experience the full promise of computing. The potential and the freedom.

I never finished the book, but Zittrain's The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It had a huge impact on how I think of this question. "Apps" as opposed to applications allow for much less interactivity and access. We're much more "locked in" when it comes to mobile design in contrast to desktop

i use bluesky because it’s the closest thing to what i want on the unchangeable axis (topology) and the topology makes all other things potentially changeable over time there is a pathway to the right thing from here. there’s no pathway to the right thing from twitter or threads or whatever

this wouldn’t work legally because a President has no authority to remove a Supreme Court justice. however the President could instead simply drone strike them. it sounds like i’m being snarky but as a result of the immunity decision this is the actual law.

For You will be down for ~20-60 minutes - I will be upgrading my computer's ram from 96GB to 192GB. I've been hitting uncomfortably high memory usage levels (90%+) and it is time to bite the bullet. I bought an identical kit a year ago and the new kit is exactly 7x more expensive.

In case you missed it amid the absolute flood of news today (so it seems), we learned more about the school bombing in Iran in February. The screw-up appears to be 100% human, FWIW. What's sort of surprising is how far back it goes.
