Liked this write-up about seeing My Chemical Romance in a stadium. I’m delighted for the band’s success, but agree MCR and their peers belonged to the ‘alternative’. Some people were seeing bands in stadiums; we were somewhere else. We felt in-the-know, not part of the whole.

Got a lot out of The Conjuring: Last Rites. A perfect example of how horror is often about ‘if you’re going through hell, just keep going’. This fictional, superhero version of the Warrens have become such a comfort. I loved it.

I can't find it online but the montage of Robert Redford in The Old Man and the Gun set to Blues Run the Game has stuck with me so much - I'm glad Redford went out with that film, which you should seek out if you haven't. An astounding swansong for an American icon.

Primavera just had its world premiere at TIFF and I will gush to anyone who'll listen about how much I loved this film. A fairytale about music as a means to reimagine one's destiny. I was totally spellbound.
