i feel like the "story" of "Tilly Norwood", in terms of the newsworthy thing that's happening, would be a behind-the-scenes report on the company's PR team that keeps getting these articles placed in major news outlets and keeps getting them written with the company's preferred framing.

Even people who arenât industry pundits are hyper focused on the box office right now because everyone loves an underdog story. I donât even like Obsession or Backrooms as much as most but what is happening is fascinating and welcome, reminds me of watching Blair Witch blow up in â99 in real time.

It was Marcia who cut together the trench run sequence in STAR WARS, using every last second of FX footage, reducing the number of Luke's attempts on the port from three to one, and adding a "ticking clock" of the approaching Death Star. It's her savvy storytelling that makes the sequence coherent.

After having seen STAR WARS 500 times as a kid, I remember having my mind blown learning that the entire "the death star is about to blow up the rebel base as its being attacked" beat of the ending was invented in the editing room using outtakes and ADR.

The animation chat has me thinking one telling thing - in the years since AI arrived, there's not been a ground-up indie phenomenon, like we saw with earlier tech (Flash, etc). It hasn't unlocked anyone's creativity. For all the anti-gatekeeping rhetroic, nothing anyone cares about has been born.
