I tend to take issue with large follower accounts quote posting smaller accounts to dunk on them. So the number of "lower skilled jobs" has fallen by almost the exact same amount as young people who are now out of work? Like I KEEP saying, just imagine your local supermarket. How many people are now staffing the tills? How many used to? There. That's the problem. That's why no one is in work.

Cuts to youth services, apprenticeships, and affordable public transport have left young people worse off, and now as adults they face a world of unaffordable rents, AI, climate change and a mental health crisis fuelled by austerity. More cuts is never the answer.

The govt: 1 in 6 young people is out of work! Also the govt: let's bring in AI to eliminate entry level jobs to help the economy! What the govt hasn't mentioned: there are only about 700k jobs available in the UK right now. Over 1m young people. Lots of those jobs won't be entry level.

I do sometimes worry that all the worried headscratching about youth unemployment might be missing the point. Everyone is always talking about how it relates to the education or welfare systems, no one wants to say "well the economy just produces far fewer entry level jobs than it once did"

Also when Millburn says that too many young people are on benefits, but at the same time, there aren't enough entry-level jobs. People on Blairism make as much sense as people on Vodka.
