Imagine landing an interview for your dream job. But you don't own a laptop, and you can’t afford internet or phone data – all of which are essential when so many interviews are online. People receiving Universal Credit are plunged into impossible situations like this every day. It’s not right.

❗ Parents are having to skip meals to pay for expensive school uniforms. A new school jumper could mean no food for a week. Back to school should be an exciting time - not a time when families are stressed out and facing hunger.

❗️If you have cancer, you should NEVER have to worry if you can afford food. Cuts to Universal Credit will be devastating for people who get diagnosed with cancer from April 2026.

People turn to food banks when they don't have enough money to survive. Lots of people are in-between jobs, have health conditions or are looking after loved ones. And some people are in work that doesn't pay enough to get by.

🚨 NEW: The number of people trapped in temporary accommodation has hit a record high. 131,140 households in England are living in temporary accommodation, including 169,050 children. A lack of affordable housing is driving up homelessness and pushing people to food banks.
