I love trying to play games as written. Part of the joy of exploring so many systems is seeing what makes them tick. On this very show one of our main pillars is trying to play the games as close to the text as possible (which gets harder and harder as we go, but alas).

If you want to do something and I mean a big Something, being around people who also want that as much as you do is more important than being around people with talent or experience. The latter make good sounding boards and mentors, but not good teammates unless they have the Want.

I am currently looking at letter-writing games for campaign 2. One thing we discussed was incorporating letter-writing into the Big Damn Adventure as a vehicle to make the world feel more alive, connect the characters to it, tug at heartstrings, and showcase a cool niche. Suggestions? Reposts?

After playing [redacted] hours of Xcom 2 I want to finish my Magic SWAT Team game. The first half of any game is so fucking easy. But the last half is always like "why would I do this to me"

After thinking on this I landed on something like a conclusion: you can't arrive at this take from "system doesn't matter". You can only arrive at this take by thinking one single omni-system is best and all forms of play can be adapted from it. Or better yet, no other forms of play is valid.

The best games we’ve featured on @gamewoven.bsky.social tend to be those that are the clearest and most singular, the ones that have their own presence and voice at the table. I am a big believer in what specificity in games does for storytelling.
