Honestly Democrats should take a big swing and refuse to fund the government until the DOJ is pulled completely out of the executive branch altogether. Make this the issue. What's there to lose? Put a spotlight on the illegality and corruption happening at DOJ for a couple of weeks at least.

If Dems want to pivot to "kitchen table issue" in their messaging this is the one! Say he has to come to congress for a vote on the tariffs or you don't vote for government funding bill.

Have watched these negotiations several times a year for a decade now and have never seen two party leaders engage in the absolute polar opposite of a power move quite like this.
