This is very good on some of the many ways that our scandalous neglect of the 55% of British kids who don't want to go to university is coming back to bite us. From

Education is the biggest divide now in politics in the US and UK. Those who don’t go to university too often feel second class. This is fuelling populism. And it has to change.

I care deeply about this from my time as a headteacher. We must go beyond the exam factory model of education and give all students proper career pathways and hope. Without it we will fuel resentment and the rise of populism. My latest Substack.

If the centre left wants to fightback against the populists, then it needs to learn from the way Trump communicates. Because at the moment we are lame and failing to understand the attention economy. My latest Substack.
