This book is amazing and I am only 50 pages in. Needs to be a TV series (My grandparents were similarly anti-German as your intro, perhaps as it was a second war, but not quite to the same extent as you mention: however, their views on the Japanese were as unforgiving, given the POW brutality).

The content of The Traitors Circle by @jonathanfreedland.bsky.social, ie Germans who stood up against the Nazis, makes a fascinating, albeit very moving, and enlightening historical account. The page-turner story building brings the individuals to life in a gripping story from start to finish.

I tend to avoid the parallels other people drawn between now and Nazi Germany as they're often glib, overstated and not really apposite or appropriate, but Jonathan's book certainly has resonance in our queasy times.
