Bafflingly there are still people out there in the world who think being passionate about nature is “kind of weird”. or “a niche interest”. These people have it all wrong. Nature isn’t some quirky sideline to the main business. It IS the main business.

Watched it recently and I thought it really showed that the stars and director hadn't done "family" films before. Venkman in particular is not a family film character. Maybe that - and the practical effects and clunky props - are why it's aged well.

I was aware of some of this very strange story, but not all of it. Alvin Stardust was an odd, threatening presence in my childhood, when pop music was aimed firmly at kids - stars would appear on children's programmes. The leather-clad, clawing Stardust was a strange fit.
