Mood in minneapolis right now

You need to understand that there are not lengthy standoffs between protesters and ICE in Minneapolis. Alex Pretti was not a “protester” in a conventional sense. ICE lurks around the city and occasionally takes aggressive actions, and bystanders and observers document it and raise the alarm

Media keeps describing Pretti as a “protester” - “why bring a gun to a protest” - but he was something much more akin to a community-based first responder for ICE sightings. He likely wasn’t expecting to get beaten in the street by them or have any violent encounter. Just observe and alert.

There's a prison revolt at a concentration camp in Texas in solidarity with Minneapolis:

Solidarity, particularly across race and class, is Kryptonite for authoritarian regimes. They can only thrive when their us v. them framing is adopted by society at large, and they join as active or passive collaborators with the regime. So the only response they have is to raise the cost of unity

Trump's militarization of Minneapolis and other parts of our nation isn't about illegal immigration. It's not about enhancing public safety. It's about destroying any sense of that safety—to intimidate political opponents, and to punish dissent.

It's about a corrupt, out-of-control regime's effort to provoke citizens in order to justify the violence it desires to commit against them so that it can expand and retain its power.

That is fascism. It is tyranny. It is governmental criminality. And the ultimate legal check the Framers of our Constitution provided to stop this kind of tyranny and criminality in the executive branch is impeachment and removal of the executive.
