Reporting LIVE from Seattle, WA
pinned post!
I'm very undecided in the 2028 primary, but in the general election I will *happily* vote for AOC, Newsom, Buttigieg, Harris, Bernie, or literally any other Democrat over 4 more years of MAGA fascism.

This whole thread is damning. KCRHA is funded by more than $200 million taxpayer dollars annually and seems to not have an accounting process at all. As Barnett says, the board needs to decide if they want to spend more to fix these issues and fish... or cut bait.

After scientists exposed wild fish to cocaine and a cocaine metabolite, they observed that as in the lab, fish on cocaine do not act like normal fish.

Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia— AOC: Wah wah wah. We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no. What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.

Iran having absolutely zero reason to trust us is going to drag this conflict on for an extremely long time. The US being perceived as generally untrustworthy is going to make conflicts like this one a lot more common.

I took a look at how redistricting changed Inside Elections House ratings, assigning partial credit for incremental shifts. (E.g., Tossup➡️Solid Republican is a GOP gain of half a seat.) By this method, redistricting has netted Democrats about 3.5 seats.

For the record: The Washington Post is run by partisan hacks who think we won't remember that they took the *exact* opposite stance when it was Republicans pushing their own gerrymandering grab in Texas last year -- *without* putting it up for a vote.

The GOP entered this redistricting under the rather childish delusion they were going to gerrymander, and nobody would gerrymander them. In TX, MO, and a half dozen other states, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind

I'd be curious to try Claude out. I just asked Copilot to create an engineering drawing for work that did the old fashioned way last week. It spit out a blank AutoCAD drawing, and gives nonsense explanations as to what happened. I gave it three tries with simplified asks but got nothing useful.

CBS News has a bombshell interview with a U.S. soldier who survived the deadly attack in Kuwait on the first day of the way -- he says Pete Hegseth is lying about the attack and that the base "was unprepared to provide any defense for itself."

this is a wild story. this level of detail cannot come without many of the principles talking to the reporters. this reads to me a whole lot like vance and rubio - especially - trying to cut their losses and throw the president under the bus. it's like something from W's second term circa 2007.

This. But also, has anything materially changed with each "escalation?" Trump is screaming impotently into the void.

Liberals generally and blue state/city dwellers in particular aren't Real Americans and they haven't been since at least the Bush era. It's okay to talk about them in a way that it's absolutely not acceptable to talk about Republican voters.

Madness. The war crimes, the deranged profanity, the casual Islamophobia. He has no idea how to solve the problem he created and he’s going to spin out about it until he nukes Tehran. He needs to removed and frankly, if he were any other world leader, we’d understand he needs to hang for his crimes

There's this myth that non-voters are just as aware of and engaged with current events as voters are and that they just haven't found the candidate that inspires them and no, that's not true at all, it's usually that they don't know anything about politics at all, which is the entire challenge.

I think part of that is that for most of us being an atheist is like being a non-chess-player or a non-bluegrass-fan: It’s not something you feel compelled to talk about a whole lot. So loudly public atheists tend to be unrepresentatively dickish.

The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
