Reminder about "They're here ILLEGALLY" Being undocumented is a civil offense, not a criminal one. That's why they're not entitled to a court-appointed lawyer, why it's "civil detention" not a jail, why it's not in the criminal code, etc. Other civil infractions are things like parking tickets.

The Star Tribune reports that federal agents "attempted to order local police from the scene" where a man was shot and killed by feds this morning, but Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara refused and "instructed his officers to preserve the scene."

Chicago's Smart Streets cameras began issuing new fine types for expired meters and parking in bus stops in late October. New cameras have come into rotation as well, to limited use. Low impact to daily fines issued so far, and a majority of tickets are still warnings.
