More than two dozen people arrived to face federal agents in five different unmarked vehicles with aftermarket emergency lights. One agent had a Jerusalem cross sticker on the back of his phone, a Christian symbol dating to the Crusades that more recently has been associated with white supremacy.

It's been a while so I'd like to remind everyone that the "migrant crisis" in Chicago was a term aimed at Venezuelan refugees but was not used to describe the *larger* wave of Ukrainian refugee migration; this is because the crisis is of bureaucracy and policy choices, not the number of immigrants.

ICE exists to enforce CIVIL immigration law, not CRIMINAL law of any kind. Ergo, there is no legal justification for them: * to be armed. * to be masked. * to kidnap anyone they want when they require judicial warrants to make CIVIL arrests. * to provide security for the Vice President, ever.

Reminder about "They're here ILLEGALLY" Being undocumented is a civil offense, not a criminal one. That's why they're not entitled to a court-appointed lawyer, why it's "civil detention" not a jail, why it's not in the criminal code, etc. Other civil infractions are things like parking tickets.
