I've been in LA in the aftermath the raids for @us.theguardian.com. Lawyers and families have largely been unable to communicate with people who were arrested. Immigrants who have been in touch report harsh conditions. Agents confiscated medications and provided minimal food...

NEW: reports today from @l-toczylowski.bsky.social and others that ICE has begun efforts to dismiss cases pending in immigration court for less than two years — so that they can then immediately arrest the same people and put them through “expedited removal,” skipping the court process entirely.

Xinis: I want to be clear that what prompted these questions and this discovery is whether the government is acting in good faith or bad faith. She says she wants DOJ to speak to that at some point. Rossman points out dichotomy between what gov is saying its doing in court vs. public statements

Recall: A lot of these filings are under seal. But Xinis says she wants to try to do as much of it as she can in open court.

Once again, there's a sizeable community turnout at the courthouse in support of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. People have been singing, chanting in the lead up to the 1 pm hearing. In the media room, I can still hear supporters milling about outside.
