Using these transgenic fish, they identified HES3 as a mediator of rhabdomyosarcoma tumorigenesis. It is now a biomarker for aggressive tumors. 3/3

Their research determined the origin of Ewing Sarcoma to be reprogrammed neural crest cells that become mesoderm and drive aggressive tumors. This discovery identifies a potential therapeutic target for physicians. 2/3
