And I'm sorry, but with so many now claiming the Greens "punched above their weight in government", it has to be said: One Green minister drafted a forestry plan that was mostly about ramping up sitka, while another Green minister insisted sheep graze a national park.

I highly doubt there is any chance anything Iβll ever say is seen by anyone at the NYT but on the off chance, when trump happens again it is absolutely going to be your fault and I want that to haunt you until your dying breath.

Forests with multiple tree species are 70% more effective as carbon sinks than monoculture forests. To slow the effects of climate change, conserve biodiversity, and meet the sustainable development goals, restoring forests is vital. Restored forests store carbon within the forest's soil & trees.

Tough year for art sales and I depend solely on it for a living, so if you like anything I do, I'd appreciate if you'd keep me in mind when buying gifts for friends or family. If you hate what I do, I'd appreciate if you'd keep me in mind when buying gifts for enemies or nemeses.

What looks like moss on the north face of a giant slab of rock in the woods is, in fact, one of the three filmy ferns in Ireland associated with rainforest. They're called 'filmy' because their fronds are only a single cell thick (amazing, huh?), and so are translucent. π

Daniel Barenboim has long been a hero of mine. One of the best conductors and pianists of the last 50 years. When he co-founded the Israeli-Palestinian youth symphony orchestra βWest Eastern Divan Orchestraβ with Palestinian Edward Said, in 1999, I gained even more respect and admiration for him.

Very sad to hear of the death of Edmund Lynch - he was an almost daily visitor to the Gutter Bookshop & was always great craic. He was delighted to be a Grand Marshal at Dublin Pride earlier this year (although he denied it...) I'll miss his caustic wit. #LGBTQ #Dublin

I'm still annoyed about this so here's just one example: I find the pledge of allegiance pretty offensive. Do you think the schools I attended banned it to preserve my religious freedom? LOL. They didn't even just let me quietly not participate. I had to leave the room.
