The democrats won’t deliver anything but reform of ICE, not its abolition, not with Chuck in charge. They just want the killing force to kill properly & with regulations. The democrats love the police state. Whole party disposal service.

Tried and true authoritarian playbook: 1) Label a “problematic” person or group a gang member/terrorist/criminal 2) Gov’t violates rights 3) Public largely looks the other way because of label 4) Damage is already done if later the courts/media expose the truth

Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”

It's impossible to express how it feels to repeatedly live through the exact same cycles over and over and over again. The reformers just consistently fucking everyone over.

I keep seeing 'what can they do? they don't have the votes.' The answer is NOT THIS. It's actually better to NOTHING than to push this list of pathetic "reforms." It's better to do NOTHING than this.

We have more than enough evidence that police reform (ie, more training, body worn cameras, better policies) does NOT work. It only makes them better resourced and better at justifying violence and killing. Same applies to ICE, CBP and DHS. Abolition is the answer.

I don't post about it much (vs how often I think about it) but the harm Rahm Emanuel caused Chicago as mayor is something people trying to do good work here -or simply exist- are CONSTANTLY contending with. Like when he closed half the mental health clinics. [2018 story]

Cop “unions” are a repulsive stain on the American labor movement, and it’s truly an embarrassment that so few labor leaders are willing to admit that.

I'm in my mid-50s. I started organizing against the violence of policing when I was a teenager. I've heard ALL of the so-called "reform" proposals. They are the SAME ONES that liberals are offering in 2026. Cops have never killed more people in my lifetime. Gotta do something different.

The proposed Chicago city budget has a $5 million line item for a ShotSpotter replacement. Abandoning this failed pursuit would free up the funds needed to maintain 2025 funding levels at our city libraries, which would still leave the libraries underfunded but would avoid disastrous proposed cuts.

Schumer isn't afraid of Dem voters. People can yell *primary* all they want as the Federal government becomes more fascist over time. There is no organized movement against the Democratic party. There's the fascists and their enablers (the Democratic party). Perhaps this would be the final straw.
