Amazing latest development in NAR demonstrating a direct role of DNA methylation for anti-viral activity. This is also in line with what recently shown by @paeschkelab.bsky.social showing that DNA G-quadruplex structure can play a role in anti-viral activity! Exciting epigenetic times ahead!

And there you have it, phase separation can override binding affinity. This is a big dogma challenged, what if standard affinity is not a factor, or at least the only one, to determine protein and nucleic acid distribution in cells?

Next, we congratulate Ahlem Meziadi for securing a MSCA fellowship. Ahlem is a chemical biologist who will be moving from Canada to join us @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social to develop aptamers for the detection and disruption of RNA-driven aggregates in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.

First up is Michele Stasi @msta94.bsky.social, a chemist who is already working in our group @imperialcollege.bsky.social. Thanks to the support of a MSCA fellowship, Michele will be investigating the role of Nucleic Acids (especially RNAs) in the formation of biomolecular condensates.
