One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.

This is, dare I say, intersectional politics. It's the intersection of terrorizing and scapegoating Black communities, of violence towards women and queer people, and many other things. If, as liberals love to say, the cruelty is the point, then who are you to tell anyone to submit to that cruelty?

Telling protesters who are having grenades launched at their faces that they're "taking the bait" is fundamentally not very different than telling someone like me that I shouldn't "provoke" violent randos if I don't want to be gay-bashed or raped, and I think liberals should think on that.
